  • What am I going to do with this shit?

    Sunday, December 17, 2006 5:38 PM

What am I going to do with this shit?

    Yes. You read that correctly.

    This shit.

It is going to be extremely hard to make any form of return on the 20+ years of investment made in wasting massive amounts of money on comics.

I'll be lucky to maybe get 25¢ a book for the majority the contents of my 70s and 80s stuff and Giga and I will be lucky to get even less for the stuff we've mutually purchased from 1997 to the present.

Right now 95% or so of the comics in this house have been moved to the Basement of Love pending the completion of the back bedroom remodeling and the holidays.

All the comics have been moved to the basement.

There's many many many hours ahead of sorting and cataloging this stuff just to see if anyone wants to buy a run of this or that book.

I talked to a friend who manages a Half Price Books and even he has said they rarely buy many comics.

The local paper crack dealers aren't really buying this stuff either.

Know that when all is said and done, if I can't sell some of this stuff I will be giving it away to any readers that want to pay for the shipping and handling of the books to their homes.

Yeah, eBay has been alright for unloading some comics, but it gets kind of sketchy. I have lucked out by selling stuff tied into movie releases, so if you've got any Spiderman or Fantasitc Four books on the chopping block that might work.

I remember when there was a time when I would have sworn up and down that I'd be collecting single issues for the rest of my life, but once I went Trades, I couldn't go back.

i'll take your gold diggers and ninja high schools!

Jeremy Lee: I do not read either of those titles. In fact, I have no idea what they are. Who publishes them?

Shawn: There are some Spider-Mans from various titles but they are all probably around the late 80s and the McFarlane era. I was never a fan of the character so there's not much here.

However, there's a good chunk of John Byrne's FF run and Walt Simonson's run there.

    I'll let you know.

antarctic press. the only company gullible enough to have published my work.

I've got a Web of Spider-Man #1 that's in my crap sell pile. And some Peter Porker: The Spectacular Spider-Ham.

Contact me when you get to the point of dumping it all. I may take it off your hands and pay for shipping. But ebay has worked for me quite well.

    Good Luck!

    Mike

yeah, sometimes i put stuff for sale on ebay, but the amount of deadbeats and hassle at the post office is rarely worth it. if you have any ninja turtles lying around, however...
